Football Manager 1995/96 – Newcastle what could of been.

Let your mind wander back to 1995, The halcyon days of Premier League managers taking bungs (Allegedly), Frank Bruno was king of the boxing world winning the WBC Heavyweight title, Cliff Richard becomes Sir Cliff & Newcastle spectacularly blew a 12 point lead atop the table. Well now it’s time to right those wrongs! Well specifically the Newcastle thing as I can’t do much about Sir Cliff.

Some bloody genius has uploaded a FM18 database to the steam workshop that replicates the squads for all English, Spanish and Italian teams from the 1995/96 season. As such I’ve avoided the temptation to take over my beloved Leeds United and instead I’ll be the new messiah at St James’ Park.

The Squad

The Squad – Frankly i’m loaded with options all over the field a solid if unspectacular defence and choice of keepers will enable me to build a solid base, Oh thats right Newcastle fans this isn’t going to be entertaining, This is all about winning BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY. Midfield contains the perfect one two punch of Rob Lee and David Batty with the mercurial talent of David Ginola on the left wing,  on the right see’s Keith Gillespie roaming the flank (tbh i’m already looking for replacements here), Upfront we have Sir Les Ferdinand and Tino Asprilla. I do have a transfer offer in for a young English striker from Blackburn however, more on that next time.

The Tactic

Tactics – I’m not messing about here, none of your fancy formations we are going Four Four Fu***ng Two as this squad is perfectly set up to play it and im nothing if not a flexible manager when it comes to tactics, We will see how this goes who knows I could end up with more options once the transfer window (not sure if thats a thing in this database at this point if im honest) closes.

So there we have it, do I have the nouse and more importantly the ability to play mind games with Fergie and ultimately come out on top?

Keep your eyes on the site for my next update coming very soon.
